What is your favorite normal Hertz vehicle you have rented?

I am talking like Midsize to Premium and normal Suv's...No Prestige as we all love those, but they arent the run of the mill cars we get...

My favorite has to be the Premium class - Charger R/T.
Also enjoy the Aura XR...

I guess the Mazda 6 or Sonata V6 with the leather...

Haven't tried the Aura yet.

Small car: Mazda 3. I don't mind Corollas, but the ones that Hertz gets are so stripped and bare that they aren't too exciting. Kind of a shame...I have a buddy who has an '07 Corolla with a sporty trim and lots of options - nice car. Very different from the ones that Hertz has.

Larger car: The '07 Camry. I have one right now. Pretty nice for a middle-of-the-road rental fleet car. Better than the Taurus.

Premium car: Hyundai Azera. Yes, that's right, I just used "Hyundai" and "premium" in the same sentence. Good car.

Trucks: if I allow Hertz to assign me one of these, I want a big one. I like the Tahoe. I have no desire for small SUV's of any kind.

Vans: another type I usually don't want, but I had a Sienna once with four people and it was not too bad.

Mazda 6 and Azera.
Both are excellent overall aside from rather poor gas mileage.

My favs:

Compact: Honda Civic (only got once).

Mid: Mazda 6. (V6 nice). V6 Sonata good too.

Full: Camry. (both 4 dr & Solara). Also loaded Impala is nice.

Dislikes: Taurus & any Kia. I won't refuse Taurus if I book compact or sub compact. Especially if it has Neverlost and/or Sirius. Will always change out if I get a Kia!

The Toyota Corolla is my favorite "regular" Hertz car (though I object to Hertz calling it a midsize...every time I've rented one it's been an upgrade from economy or compact). Like every Toyota, the fit and finish, and overall lack of rattles, are top notch. Handling is precise, too, other than the fact that the car is so lightweight that it blows around a bit in 30+ mph winds. I own an '07 Corolla as my daily driver at home so I'm a little biased, but it's a quality little car.

We just had the Azera for the first time in California for a week and it was better than I expected. The mileage wasn't too bad either.

First, good question. OP! :p

Intermediate: Mazda 6
Full size: KIA Amanti with Leather and Sunroof
I'm driving an Amanti now. It's quite, comfortable, accelerates quickly and has large LCD displays.

I usually book intermediate and work them from there.

I prefer the Mazda 6 but I've had trouble getting them lately. Got bumped to a Milan recently which was a decent car.

Absolutely refuse: ANY CHRYSLER or DODGE - I'll walk my contract back to the Gold Window so fast their heads will spin. I can get a Chrysler from Thrifty at half the price.

You prefer a Taurus over a 300 or Charger? That is a rarity for a Hertz renter.

:) I've been fortunate enough not to have been stuck with a Taurus in my travels. The Chryslers that I've rented over the years have been so awful to me that I refuse to even try the new ones. It wasn't easy for me to accept the Milan when they offered that (though it turned out to be surprisingly good), I normally try to get Japanese cars or one of the better Korean ones.

I don't frequent the airports that offer Prestige Collection cars so I can't go that route, though I would rent an A4 if it was offered since that is quite similar to what I drive at home.

im not a big fan of american cars but the chrystler (sp) 300 is a nice car even bare.. very roomy. and enough powe...

Question:

If you guys had a choice between the dodge charger and 300..what would you go with..i never drove the charger...

I'll echo the Mazda 6 for Intermediate class. Only got one once, renting out of SAN. The new Camry is OK, for a Full, but somehow just doesn't interest me as much as the previous Camry model did.

Trust me give the 300 or chrager a chance. Never take the 2.7L models, but the 3.5 and 5.7 will make you happy.

I am a Charger fan. Looks great as a 3.5 model and 5.7 model. The 300 with out the Hemi looks bad. The headlights and taillights ruin the whole car...imo.

I'm in a Mazda 6 this week - I like it. ^

I'm partly pleased that I was able to book midsize at SEA and actually have a midsize car when I arrived (instead of an SUV, van - or the huge station wagon I got last time), but I'm also genuinely pleased with the car.

I have no problem with Chrysler in general, but those big station wagons they make are tough to drive if you aren't used to them. Difficult to see out of and (obviously) somewhat longer than a normal car. I'd be happy to drive a Charger at some point...preferably somewhere other than Seattle.
