Hope the title makes sense! I just reserved 2 awards tickets on AA for Feb. to the Caribbean. Total cost is $44.00. The question I have is ...when I pay for these with my PP elite card will I still get the miles flown as TY points? Also is there something I have to do to make sure that the miles I fly will be credited to my TY account? Thanks in advance !

To be sure we understand correctly, you redeemed AAdvantage miles for a pair of award tickets, used your Premiere Pass Elite card to pay the taxes, and want to know if you will earn Thank You Flight Points based on the distance flown? If this is the question, the answer is "probably" because AA reports award ticket fee transactions to the card issuer the same as revenue tickets. The Flight Points will appear automatically at the end of the billing cycle after the cycle in which the first flight segment occurs, but save your boarding passes and other documentation.

Bear in mind that Flight Points will not be posted to your Thank You Rewards account until they are matched with Purchase or Select Spend points generated on the same credit card. For example, if you bought two round-trip tickets for a 1,500 mile (one way) trip you would generate 6,000 Flight Points and you will need to generate 6,000 Purchase or Select Spend points to use them.

Thanks MIA, you understand correctly. By the time I fly this route next february, I will have charged out way beyond the matching points..I was hoping it would work that way.:D
Thanks Anaggie for the help, I did search and couldnt find the answer to this specific situation, evidently you have better search skills than I do, and did find it....sorry to bother anyone.:(

One option that might help you is to go to the main PP/TY threads (there are really only maybe 3 with most of the info) and use the "Search this thread" option.

again, do not take it wrong....there are only 2-3 threads that contain this info...not that hard...just saying that if you read the thread, you would actually get a hell of a lot more info...which might benefit you....

It is not like the AA board where there are a million freaking threads....
