From an email I just received from Hertz:

We are pleased to let you know that you have re-qualified for Hertz #1 Club GoldŽ Five StarŽ membership. In recognition of your elite status as a Five Star member, you will receive one-car-class upgrades* at no additional charge.

Your Five Star membership status has been renewed through April 2008. Please continue to use your current membership card, since new cards are not being issued.

We thank you for your loyalty and look forward to every opportunity to show you how rewarding Hertz can be.

*Subject to availability and upgrade limitations.

Its not like I ever use my 5* card, but I found it interesting that Hertz specifically decided not to issue new cards this year. Cost cutting anybody?

Also, that * on the upgrade must be one HUGE Astrix since my upgrade success rate seems to be no better than your average Gold member...

Well thats great, my first year as a five star and no cards...

Re: upgrade i found out that they have to request it, and write it on your rental, so I always call them and get them to do it. Seems to have worked so far.

Just out of curriousity, why do we need to have a card?

Agreed....any insight to this? I usually end up throwing mine out; they can always look you up, if you're not already booking online, or through a travel agent. You can borrow mine...just sign up for code ZE1... :D

I don't think I ever *had* a Five Star card. Then again, Hertz doesn't really treat me any different than a regular Gold member. In fact, there are times when I think they treat me worse - unless they really do treat everybody in Seattle this bad.

Well I cant memorize my gold number and when my computer kicks out my auto login having the card with the number on it helps me!

That may be the only reason for me.

I got the same email. Not only have I never been given a 5* card, but I also don't recall getting my free class upgrade.

I got the same email for President's Circle - no new card.

Last year my card arrived with a free day cert but I guess it's not happening again.
My SO who just qualified for the first time got her brand new 5* card but also without free rental day cert.

I qualified over a month ago, and was told at the time that they would send out a new card, "the next time they send out new cards." I never received a card.

I made 5* for the first time last year and did get a shiny new card on Friday. Perhaps due to being based in the UK, I didn't get any free vouchers with the letter though.

Oddly enough, I had emailed Hertz CS about not receiving my "renewed" PC card just several hours before this email showed up. In any case, their reply a day later said that they would send a new card, so we'll see what happens...

To get this clear, I have to call when I hit 10 rentals to get 5* added? Does Hertz do any status matches? Just moved to a company that uses Hertz, I was a former Avis man, and boy did I love the free iTunes ^

I made PC (again) in October ... and got the email a couple of weeks ago about requalifying. But still no new card in 20036  . Hertz don't seem to have their act together in this regard.

Yes, you need to call. Don't know about status matches... If you call and ask, there's about a 95% chance you'll get someone who won't know what the heck you're talking about. I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Just got a 5* card for the first time, AND a free rental voucher - in the UK too! :)

You may get a CSR who states something to the effect that the status normally takes effect at the start of the next year, almost begruding you the status... but they should still go ahead and upgrade you to 5* nonetheless.

Last month, when I received my new 5* without coupon, I called and the agent said he would mail out another "package", but I received exactly what I had previously received...sans coupon. :( I want my coupon!:p
