Hertz - Vehicle pickup by spouse?

I know that with Club Gold, you don't have to pay an extra charge to have your spouse drive the vehicle.
But - can I have my wife *pick up* the vehicle? I won't be able to get to the airport that day to get the car, but I'd like to be able to earn #1 points, as well as get the car upgrade that Presidents Circle usually gets me. So that rules out having the rental in her name.
Any thoughts?

Call the gold desk and they will put that in the record. your spouse will possibly have to go in to pickup but it is possible. (Did it a few weeks ago on Maui since she got there before me).

How about having my father pickup the car....he is arriving a few hours ahead of me? Will he have to be added as a 2nd driver? Is there a fee for this since I'm a Hertz GOLD?
Seems to me at most places, with GOLD, the keys are in the car. You just hop in and drive off. I don't remember the lot security guard ever checking driver's liscences.
FYI...this question pertains to SFO Hertz..

Nope, can be a spouse only. However, if you and your father have the same last name, you can say he is your "domestic partner" and it seems to work. I've run into this with family members before.

Or better yet, have my mom pick up the car

Has anyone gotten this to work both ways with a spouse? I get really good corp rates and my corp allows my spouse to drive under our contract and get benefits such as LDW. However, when I signed her up for her own #1 account Hertz with my CDP (company website somewhat ambiguous on this) Hertz said that she couldn't rent directly with the rates/perks as she is not an employee. So can I make the reservation and have her pick up and drop off?

i've had mixed experiences. tried to have my wife p/u car at ord - no luck. she needed to fill a completely new rental agreement!
