I have an SPG Amex issued by Amex and a Citi AAdv Amex issued by Citi.

I know Amex offers benefits such as Buyers protection and Return Protection. Would this equally apply to the Citi Amex or is that one governed by different Citi rules/benefits?

I wish people would give full descriptions so we would understand what the heck is going on.

Please don't tell me to see newbies.

So what is entre? Besides a high priced main dish at restaurants.

They are totally different.

A citi-issued amex is just like a Citi-issued Visa....it's a product of Citibank, just using Visa's network. The Citi Amex is still a Citi, not Amex, card. It only uses Amex's network.

Amex is a conglomeration of individual companies. One of them is American Express Centurion Bank, which handles the issuing and servicing of credit card accounts. This is the entity that issues what we all consider to be "Amex" cards...

Another of their entities is their payment network, which they use for both their own products and which they rent out to other credit card issuers.

The benefits of an Amex card come from Centurion Bank, not from the payment network. So, your benefits are related to the issuing bank, be it citi or whoever, regardless of what network it uses.
