My husband and I recently visited El Salvador and utilized Alamo for our car rental needs. What a mistake! We felt that this company would be a good choice due to the fact that they are known for decent service in the States.
The car that we were promised was supposed to be a 2007 automatic Nissian with AC. We certainly paid for this model. What was dropped off (3 1/2 hours late) was not what we expected.
We were presented with a 1999 Nissian with a manual transmission (supposedly 20.00 per day less though we have never seen the refund for the discrepency) and no AC.
To add insult to injury the surly woman that dropped the car off needed a ride back and expected us to do this. Had it been arranged with us beforehand, this might have been fine. Alamo assured us that the person dropping off the car would be followed by a second car to get her back to the office.
Needless to say, I dropped the profoundly negative woman off at the bus station 5 miles away.
Finally, to add insult to injury, we were charged a $50.00 late fee for returning the car at the time we recieved it that first day.
Avoid Alamo at all costs!
