GF will officially be reducing its fleet from 34 to 28 aircraft..to an all Airbus fleet. Good riddance to the 76's I say.

A few routes are also being rumored to be cut with SYD, SIN and DUB on the chopping board. Still unofficial rumors by supposedly official sources at this stage however.

Four senior Bahraini managers have also been shown the door and senior Mgt significantly reduced.

There are significant changes underway at GF in Bahrain with the Bahraini Government looking to own 80% immediately of the airline with view to 100% in very near future. Thus Omanis will concentrate on Oman Air and have already ordered 3 A330's.

Will let you know more as I learn it, however, I'm sure most is and will be in aviation industry press.

So it's time for Aussies to redeem - is this why there was no redemption sale this month?

:td: if this happens SYD-DUB :(

What would our experienced Aussie FTers do, should this happen?
Will any change be announced as an immediate shutdown, or given an end date?

Hi B

You can still use your points with AA remember if u make it to the USA. Besides let's wait till its official that SYD etc will be part of the route cuts. May well be rumors?

I know for a fact GF SYD are recruiting for a new GM for AUS/NZ and have recently employed a few new bods which bodes well for SYD.

Also, for those of you that have worked out that 34 ac minus 9 767's does not equal 28 you are correct;) GF are apparently putting on 3 new A340's to make up the 28 fleet of ac.

Also heard that story from the Oman Airport Management guys i was talking to at the ITB fair in Berlin recently. Seems that "Update" is right and Mr. Dosé is really "joining at a challenging time for Gulf ".
