American Express Membership Rewards - Transferring MR points to spouse's FF account

I seem to recall some posts in the past where people were able to transfer MR points to their spouse's frequent flyer account. I couldn't find anything with a search, so sorry for the new thread.

My Delta FF account is currently linked to my AmEx MR, and I do need to transfer points to it. In addition, I would like to transfer some MR points to my husband's Delta FF account.

Can I just add his FF account in my AmEx online account, so that I would have two Delta accounts listed and linked, or do I first need to delink mine, add his, make the point transfer, and then reverse the process to get my Delta account back in?

Are there any consequences to doing this? How quickly do the points transfer?

= unofficial way

official way = additional cardholder + authorized to redeem MR, transfers to their FFP

= unofficial way

Does the unofficial way only work with a spouse? So anyone with a different last name wouldnt work?

I don't believe there is any benefit to removing your own account, just attempt to add his online, and if it is sucessful make the transfer online.

how many FFP accounts (for the same airline) can be linked to a single MR account at one time?

no worries, I have 4 linked and transfer them at the same time, all miles posted right the way.
