As of late March / 2007 Tiger Airways has daily fights from Singapore to Perth, Australia.

Best prices appear to be appr $ 60 SGD / AUD plus oodles of taxes / fees.

Not super cheap, but worth checking out for anyone planning a side trip to Australia from SE Asia or V/V.

I'm glad they're flying there for the competition, but with their business model the airfare might as well always be $0. Not only do they load up on the fees (many of them airline-imposed), but they won't itemize them when you click on the link. All the revenue and profit has been shifted to these fees, though that hasn't stopped them from advertising the teaser fares very loudly. It's becoming a big bait-and-switch.

That said, they might still be the cheapest, but I'd advise checking around the "real" prices (Qantas or Royal Brunei might be in the same range). Also be wary of the aggressive bag weight limit on Tiger, as they make extra money off that.

Fare wars to PER?
Not bad for backpackers wanting to enter-exist Australia, but beware the vast distance from the east coast!

Perth isn't the most visitor-friendly city, IMO.
