Hi!
I am currently onboard flight from FRA to IAD on LH. They let me try new Internet service (Connexion) as a *G customer (I am UA *G). It is amazing how fast this satellite connection is. It seems that the plane has cache server but even when I connect to far-reaching places (I tried Mongolia, Bhutan, and others), connection speed was excellent. I have asked nice technical assistant lady how they connect, she told me that inside the plane, they use IEEE802.11b (I did not know that we do not have to turn off the Wi-Fi signal on-board).
Although LH's Seat (I am on Econ now) is nothing to bragg about (IMHO), this new service is extremely nice.
Though I am a bit fearfull for the day when we all have to answer e-mails on-board http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
