My understanding is that it costs $75 to enroll a corporate card in this program. As near as I can make out there is no way around this fee.

My estimate tis the breakeven point for the enrollment fee is corporate charges of $7500, or 7500 points ( assuming a penny a point). Is this correct or am I missing something

TIA

Correct; they have pushed up the cost of linking over the last few years, and I am finally overcoming the inertia that keeps me paying the fee. I'm planning to unlink and stop using the corp card (just put everything on my Gold) once my current year is up.

The minor convenienece of having expenses on a separated bill is not worth 75 bucks, IMHO.

I mulled over the decision of whether or not to pay the $75 to link my corporate card to my MR program. Even though I decided not to do it, an announcement came through recently that we will no longer be able to link our corporate cards to a MR program. Of course always wanting what I can't have, there's a small feeling of "losing out" by not being able to do so anymore.

Anyway, why would my company no longer allow us to get MR points, especially when the end users (myself) are the ones paying the $75 fee?

I've thought about this for a while and am actually still surprised that companies let you enroll in MR and earn points at all. If you stop and think about it, you actually have an incentive (however small) to spend MORE and thus earn more points. For a company like mine where we must use our corporate cards for basically everything, it still boggles my mind. I'm not complaining though.

Once they raised the fee to link to MR on my corporate card last year or the year before, I decided not to link it. I found that it was not worth it because I have other AMEX cards that earn MR and that I'm also paying for [i.e. annual fee], and I could use them instead. So why pay another $75 on top of my other fees just to get some points that I really don't value that much anyway.

Fortunately I am permitted to use whatever means I choose in order to pay for corporate expenses. Hence I may have used my corporate card once in the last few years. So, it's not worth it!

The points cost American Express something when they are redeemed. If your employer has negotiated a deal with American Express that involves, say, a rebate based on charge volume this may have consumed the budget that American Express could have otherwise used for rewards points.
