I am trying to book a ticket on the NZ website YVR - SFO/LAX - AKL return for May in Y.
I booked flights in the past on the New Zealand website which allowed to choose non-status miles earning fares and status miles earning fares. There seems to be no such choice when booking on the Canadian website or is there some "trick" to do it.
I would put miles in my Aeroplan account. I did see that it shows that some fares earn miles on the Air Points program but not others.
It is possible to book fares that are status miles earning fares on the US website.
In the proces off booking online will I have the option to assign a seat?
I have found the NZ website to be very quirky when try to book flights.
Sometimes it is more effective to use the multi city tool.

Untill a few years ago you could pick your seats online when you where booking but when they changed to there own booking system that they designed it does not have it yet thought is ment to be comming. To pick your seats you just ring the nz call centure after you have booking and they will do the seat request for you.
I have been trying to make a booking and found out that on the US website you have a choice of fare classes; non-earning status miles and earning status miles but no choice of seat selection.
On the Canadian website you get a choice of seat selection but no choice of choosing an airfare that earn status miles versus non-earning status miles.
Quite funny.
Couldn't they just combine the two?:)
Will the US website allow me to purchase the ticket with a Canadian Billing Adress for CC?

Air NZ have been gradually rolling out their in-house web booking engine to the various international markets. I believe its only in the past few months that it became available for bookings from the USA. Hopefully it will also be made available for the Canadian market soon - except for the lack of seat selection, its a big improvement in terms of user-friendliness.

It is most definetly a big improvement even just the fact that it tells you wether you are accrueing any miles or not is a big plus. Even the Air Canada website does not do that except on the domestic and transborder flights.
I did see it in most US Airlines websites. Nowadays it's almost a must with so much confusion in which one earns miles and which one doesn't.

Not for simple bookings in my experience. The multi city booking engine does NOT return the best fares (unless they've all sold out).
This is a major annoyance to me that the NZ website has so many different booking engines, each set slightly differently and none of them provides the complete package of features I like to use.
