Quick question for everyone. I know that for 2007, SPG Plat is no longer a Centurion benefit, and the SPG has been "downgraded" to Gold. My question is; for those Centurion members that have had the card pre-2007, will they still receive SPG Platinum status since they've had it for many years, or will they automatically be downgrade to SPG Gold. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

No grandfather rights to Plat so everyone gets downgraded to gold. Exception of course if your stays would allow you plat anyway

My card was valid to Feb 2008 and the status on line still shows Plat :D
All the better considering I went from Black to Green with Amex 2 weeks ago.

I too lost my SPG Platinum on Feb 28. My Centurion benefits are getting on a shorter line at the airports. It's been my SPG Platinum that got me truly extraordinary upgrades and it's a very upsetting loss. Almost all of my vacations for the last three years have been free points-based Starwood hotels and resorts by using the SPG AMEX card.

That said, I received an offer from Starwood for double stay credit for the months of March, April and May. At the same time, I found out (on FT) that the local Sheraton had $69 Sundays. So I quickly signed up for 13 Sundays to get back to Platinum thru 2/09. Total cost is just over $1,000. Total number of Starpoints received will be 4,500, worth over $200 to me - probably more as I'm both picky and creative!

There is no doubt in my mind that the $800 for Starwood Platinum is a much, much better value than the $2,500 for Centurion! Don't know if they'll ever offer it again, but in the FF business, it's one day at a time!
