I am considering applying for the Frontier MasterCard to get miles. Does anyone have experience on the availability of award travel through Frontier? Their website says you can book a roundtrip ticket in the US for 15,000 miles. Is this true or do they raise the miles (due to availability) when you actually book the flights?

I am a Worldperks member and rarely find award seats for the route I fly (SMF to MSP). I am thinking Frontier might be better?

I use the card for daily expenses, bill paying, etc. so I do accumulate a lot of miles every month. Is it worth switching from Northwest to Frontier?

I've seen plenty of availability, for most city pairs, of 15000 mile RT awards and 10000 mile OW awards too. ANC availability is quite restricted. Rule buster awards are available to Ascent and Summit members for double miles.

Not sure if this too helpful, but I just applied and received the Frontier credit card. I got the standard amount for signing up plus some additional miles for a balance transfer.

After the miles were credited, I used the online award booking tool to check for flights on specific dates (Jul 4-8) from IND-LAS. I was able to get standard OW awards for the flight out (Wed), but not the flight back (Sun).

It cost me 20,000 to get two free segments instead of the 15,000 I was hoping for, but it worked out ok.

I don't like the fact the fact that you can't look at availablility until you have the actual miles in your in account.

I was using this experience to determine whether I wanted to dump a bunch of miles from a Marriott Reward Travel Package into Frontier. I would say at this point I'm undecided based on the experience so far. The flight experience will have to be very good to tip the scales in favor of Frontier...

I also do not like the fact you can't check availability without having miles in your account. That is what makes me feel like I am walking into this blind. I have no way of knowing if there will be more availability than Northwest.

I am leaning toward trying it out. I tend to like Frontier better than Northwest, even with the layover in Denver. The free tv service is great when traveling with kids.

I haven't had any trouble booking awards. Of course, I'm not trying to get a seat to Orlando for a Sunday return, either. I think on the whole, it's relatively painless to get the awards, especially with the new online booking tool. I agree, though, that it is a shame you can't see availability until you have enough miles in your account.

Keep in mind folks, that you can also call the EarlyReturns desk to check award availability. As long as seats are available in "S" class, you can get an award ticket.
