There are a couple of threads (in the HA and HH forum) that the AMEX to HA to HH transfers are possibly dead as of yesterday. Can anyone on this forum confirm this?

Time will tell if this is a rumour or not, but the HA to HH is still listed as a valid transfer on the HHonors website: http://hhonors1.hilton.com/en_US/hh/points/milesforpoints.do

If you read the messages in the Hawaiian section it's evident that miles earned in the program can still be transferred to Hilton, but not miles transferred in from Membership Rewards. I believe Mexicana has a similar restriction. It's a rational solution if people are using the program strictly as a laundry.

But how can they possibly tell the difference between earned and transferred miles? I guess I will have to read the HA threads...

I really deserve a swift kick in the _ _ _!! I was going to transfer AMEX to HA to get them to HH LAST week and I didn't! Stupid me! :mad:

What do others consider the best use of MR points for hotel redemptions now?

Airlines routinely track actual miles flown for elite status, it's a simple programming exercise to classify the source of other miles. If you have never flown HA or MX there doesn't seem to be any ambiguity. However, if you do fly these carriers and have a mixture of earned and transferred miles it become more complicated if (for example) you have redeemed for an award ticket and then want to transfer to Hilton.

I have asked this question in the other threads, but will repeat here - in theory the following should still work for MR-HH in the same ratio:

MR->MX->HH
MR->CO->Amtrak->HH

Please report if the above still work.

Dang - I transferred 30k last week and it must have been one of the last allowed - should have transferred the entire 70k :mad:

There are also the MR->PC transfers which could be good value for hotel stays.

I think i am going to go the Amex gift card route - need to get me a Garmin GPS :D

MR->MX->HH - Read post #5 from mia above. Apparently, no.
MR->CO->Amtrak->HH - Don't know, but I've done this myself when I've combined MR with orphan CO miles to extract some value from them. But as soon as people start to migrate to this method now that HA is gone, Amtrak may well be forced to adjust thier policy as well.

This thread is the source of my understanding that Mexicana will not transfer "non-flying" miles to Hilton...

http://flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=600186

Bear in mind that MR-CO-AGR-HH is limited to 25,000 miles per calendar year, or 50,000 miles if you hold Select status in Amtrak Guest Rewards.

It's dead. Under the "Earning Miles" section of the HawaiianMiles Terms and Conditions, #18 reads "Points/Miles transferred into a HawaiianMIles Account from another program may not be transferred to a third party loyalty program." I spoke with a CSR from the HawaiianMiles marketing department - this means us.

You had to figure this was going to happen sooner or later. After the MR->DL->HH transfer died a few years ago, HA became the only option for unlimited transfers. After seeing blocks of several 100K HA miles going to HH for several years from people with no flight activity (guilty), I was surprised it lasted this long.

This makes my green Amex card not worth the annual fee, with or without a retention bonus.

Cblaisd has a recurrent ad on tCC seeking HA miles.
??: If U transfer your Amex to HA, then to a friend's HA, can the friend transfer to his/her HH ;) ?

If your primary goal is HH points, why not use the HH AMEX which provides 3 or 5 HH points per $?

In years past one could earn two (or more) Membership Rewards points per dollar during promotional cycles which could then be doubled by transferring HA to HH, which meant 4 to 6 net.

I'll take 5 HH points/CC$, but if I have to choose between 3 HH points or one starpoint, the starpoints win. I may feel differently when I bleed my HH point balance down, but then there's the whole issue of moving the line of credit between credit cards - it's not automatic (as noted in another thread).
