Thanks!absolutflying Aug 16, 02, 11:02 am What InsideFlyer magazine subscription promotions are coming up after 8/16? Thanks! Randy Petersen Aug 16, 02, 11:56 am It was recently suggested to offer AAdvantage miles for new subscribers - which we are currently working on and expect to begin offering shortly. But then the United crowd (not wanting to be out done by fellow AAdvantage members) started in and expressed an interest in Mileage Plus miles for new and renewing subscribers, and we are currently wotrking on that as well and expect these both to start shortly. We're thinking of adapting the car rental partner strategy and awarding one bonus miles for every dollar you spend - what do you think? Competitive idea huh? But wait, some of the car rental guys are offering double miles, guess we'll have to match. OK, seriously we are not yet set in what our offer may be with American and United. Miles are expensive, though they do create interest in InsideFlyer. Thanks for the question. absolutflying Aug 16, 02, 12:00 pm Randy, Thanks!!! My vote if for UA miles... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif (perhaps a 100-year subscription to InsideFlyer) kanebear Aug 16, 02, 12:04 pm Originally posted by Randy Petersen: It was recently suggested to offer AAdvantage miles for new subscribers - which we are currently working on and expect to begin offering shortly. But you'll have to hurry if you want them to post to Diners in time to transfer into BA (http://www.dinersclubnewsroom.com/view_release.cfm?id=157) as 3500 miles. cactuspete Aug 16, 02, 12:57 pm Bring back Starwood! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ideasmilie.gif Tolew Aug 16, 02, 1:56 pm Yes, Starwood.. ElvisNYC Aug 16, 02, 9:50 pm Brasila, you can follow this link (http://www.webflyer.com/deals/products_and_services/productnav.php?ID=PV26yn8AAAEAAApwKxg&FILE=infoifa.htm) to subscribe jfe Aug 16, 02, 11:57 pm I would love for the *wood promotion to be back. I was laid off during the time of the promotion and completely missed it. I gotta take that Concorde trip. ------------------ ================== Another evil plot for world domination through the use of points and miles. Delta141 Aug 17, 02, 1:46 am Starwood all the way! Canista Aug 17, 02, 5:21 am Starwood! Starwood! Starwood! (maybe at 3000 this time http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif) DP-UK Aug 17, 02, 7:21 am 1) AA & Amex deal for 3500 miles per subscription 2) *wood again Either of these would get me reaching for my wallet big-time http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif christep Aug 17, 02, 8:12 am Yup - a deal with AA that would let me "buy" 2M miles (& lifetime Platinum) for, say, US$20,000 would be good. kawoh Aug 17, 02, 8:34 am NH, MX or RG miles, know it's a bit far fetched, but they certainly wouldn't go astray for me! FlyingRev Aug 17, 02, 3:23 pm Randy, Like so many others, we appreciate your wonderful magazine and insight. If you are looking for a promotion to boost sales and revenue, then my vote is for STARWOOD POINTS. You mentioned that AA and UA miles are expensive. Are Starwood points more reasonable? *W points would get me to jump again, and seeing as it was more successful beyond your staffs wildest dreams, why not give the masses what they want? STARWOOD POINTS! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif absolutflying Aug 17, 02, 3:36 pm Yes, Starwood, please. I'll take 30. kempis Aug 17, 02, 3:53 pm Yes starwood please. I only got one last time but if they happen again I will buy many many more. argent00 Aug 17, 02, 4:38 pm I dont understand why all of you didnt buy the hell out of it with starwood promo,Ibought 364 subs.and have no regrets,so far i flew FC LHR-ORD,LHR-TLV,TOMMORROW IS MY RETURN FLIGHT AND I HAVE tlv-iad,but that is with old ba points PG Aug 17, 02, 5:00 pm Currently many airlines sell miles from anywhere around 2 cents per mile to 2.5 cents per mile, but they limit the number of miles one can purchase. As someone who does not buy miles/Valuemag/InsideFlyer I am concerned about the effect of unlimited/wholesale buying of miles on the miles that I have. There is no doubt in my mind that this will make awards harder to get AND/OR airlines will bump up the number of miles needed for first/business class where the purchase price of a ticket will be on par with the purchase price of the miles required for the ticket. I don't think that the "bought" miles are even a one-hundreth of the "earned" miles. If the total percentage of these miles is small, I do not believe it will affect the availabilty of awards or make the airlines require more miles for rewards. MyDearMiles Aug 17, 02, 9:54 pm My Vote: 1. STARWOOD 2. AA fireflyreaction Aug 17, 02, 10:10 pm i think what you have to do is time the promo correctly. i suspect part of the reason the valuemags promo did as well as it did was because it was around the christmas time, and people are a little more loose with their wallets around then. -ffr. I am not, but I've read reports that it is close to 50% (definitely is much larger than the 1% number you mention). There was an interesting article in The Economist magazine (http://economist.com/printedition/displayStory.cfm?Story_ID=1112721). A quote from this article is: Already, too many miles are chasing too few available seats. So if there are already too many miles, what is the effect of allowing everyone to buy unlimited miles? rnprasad Aug 18, 02, 1:48 am Starwood oncemore please. qgpv Aug 18, 02, 12:07 pm I vote for American. yanxfann Aug 18, 02, 9:01 pm Originally posted by fireflyreaction: i suspect part of the reason the valuemags promo did as well as it did was because it was around the christmas time, and people are a little more loose with their wallets around then. -ffr. The timing of the valumags promo had absolutely NO bearing on me jumping on the boat - regardless of what time of year they offered a promo like that I would have been a participant. Good deals (and despite the headaches the valumags was an absolutely GREAT deal for me) have no season. GeorgiaShrink Aug 19, 02, 10:40 pm I got in on the *wood-Concorde deal for myself and the wife. Her points were posted within a week and mine have yet to post.I hope this isn't typical |
