I'm no member of the technocrati and fairly new to AS since I moved to SEA end of last year, but from what I can tell you can't change your flight information on Alaska's website and have to "manually" call AS to change day or time of flight....is this in fact true? And if so, why are people not screaming their heads off about this on a daily basis? Again, I may be missing something obvious, and if so then I'd appreciate a heads-up, but if not......

if you log in w/ your mileage plan number, there is a link at the top right that says my trips. from there you can select any reservations and then click the link that says change. allows you to change date/time or cancel the res.

what's really odd is if you click keep as confirmed and then continue, it will try to charge $50 even though no change was made. clicking quit avoids that problem.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. My query is directed to changing reservation on return/inbound after commencing travel. According to the AS website, "to be eligible for online changes your purchased reservation must contain travel that has not yet commenced.." If true, then that's just insane and a huge pain to call in the change.

Am I missing something here? Of course, I'd like to check again but since I'm in between travel legs and there's no reservation showing on "my trips" (since presumably I'm in between travel legs) and I can't type in the Conf code no because it's not listed elsewhere in my account etc......I may have been spoiled by the superior usefulness of the CO site (and I'm not any type of staunch CO apologist), but this all seems pretty mickey mouse......

Not to go OT on anyone, but: There is another glitch with the Change functionality. Last week, I wanted to change the return and the price difference it kept showing me was double that of if I booked a new trip on the identical flights (about $159 vs. $76). I finally called and made the change successfully on the phone, and was told this sometimes happens (my guess is that it wanted to reprice the return in the Value bucket, not the Bargain one, even though Bargain inventory was available).

So it pays to reprice the trip before making a change within the existing reservation as a double-check.

Since we are picking on the Web function of "My Trips" I have a complaint. The system does not hold award trips, even if you start and finish the trip on AS(partner flights in between). I made a change with reservations on an award trip--and the res agent told me to check "My Trips" to recheck that the changes had been made. I told her I did not think that could be done, but she was sure it could. Checked later by trying to add the confirmaiton code, and got a red message that it was not possible and to call reservations.
I'm sure there is a good reason why the system can not accept award tickets in the My Trip site--I just can not figure out what that reason might be?

I've never had a problem with that. Not only have I been able to view my reward trips, I've been able to view reward trips I've booked for family members. It's never been a problem, even with legs on AA.

I agree with everything you said--all true for me as well. The problem seems to be that it is an international flight(on LAN0) after and before the AS segments. Contacted web support, and the reply was to contact
MVPG reservations for any questions regarding this specific reservation.

i'll have to double-check to be sure, but I'm almost positive that to be viewable online, the ticket has to be bookable online. So any award ticket that you can purchase directly at alaskaair.com can be put into MyTrips... but the ones that have to be booked through the Partner Desk cannot.

Thank you Missydarlin and appreciate the response. I'm assuming that I'm not alone in having to make constant changes to return flights, and calling in sometimes can be difficult. I'm surprised there's not more hue and cry about this....any timeline to bringing this feature online?

I do not have a timeline. Currently you can't even make changes to AS international tickets online... so I imagine it will be quite a while before we are able to provide that service for intl partner awards.

Yes, thank you Missydarlin. It all makes sense to me now, but it would be nice to be able to monitor the AS segments on the My Trips site--maybe some day.
