Hi Folks...

I'm trying to find a decent price for a one-way ticket from Lagos, Africa (closest big city is Nigeria). To, ideally, SEATAC, but NY would be great, too.

Any ideas?

Thank you,

Shedwick:)

There is a charter airline called North American Airlines that flies out of Lagos to New York. I really don't know anything about them but according to their website (www.flynaa.com), they are currently offering 3 flights a week from Lagos to JFK (I'm getting a price of $855 for a one way in May). Additionally, most major European airlines fly regularly to/from Lagos; you will have to connect via a European city. You can also try Emirates via Dubai or Qatar via DOH (but that will take you way of course)... Good luck...

...from Lagos, Africa (closest big city is Nigeria)...

1) Welcome to FT.

2) I really don't meant to be rude, but, please, have a look at a map or an atlas. Being ignorant about world geography is fine, it can be a personal choice, but at least if you're planning to visit a place, it would be nice to take the time to learn that Nigeria is actually a country (of 130 million people - Africa's most populous, in fact). Lagos is the biggest city (used to be the capital, now moved to Abuja).

3) Many European airlines fly to Lagos, and would take you, through their hubs, to the USA. I would start by looking at the timetable pages of the 2 major alliances (www.staralliance.com, www.oneworld.com and www.skyteam.com). Note, that sometimes return tickets can be cheaper than one-ways (kind of a paradox, I know).

You could also try to connect to the SAA flight to JFK (or another one to IAD if that's of any help) in DKR.
