What to miss/not to miss Nassau/Paradise Island this w/e

Going on a last minute cruise out of FLL. Staying at Atlantis on Paradise Island next to Nassau, New Provincetown, Bahamas.

Taking into consideration the following criteria, what would your recommendations be:

I am looking for photographic opportunities (landscapes, not people) i.e sunsets, architucture, beaches, views, etc...in or near the vicinity. Keep in mind, I only have Saturday and Sunday to explore this area. What lookout points or scenic spots can you voich for?

I am looking for authentic, Bahamian food (found only in the Bahamas). Also, local cocktails. What dinner spots can you vouch for?

Thx

As someone who lived in The Bahamas for 2 years, I can assure you, there will be nothing authentic or Bahamian to be found around Paradise Island.

The resort has its own beach, but its not really all that photo worthy, and will probably be crowded with people (Americans - Bahamians are banned from the beach unless staying at the hotel as well as from the casino)

You must have a Goombay Smash for a beverage though :D
And try cracked conch, although you may need to go into Nassau proper if you want a more authentic dining experience. Bahamian Mac'n'cheese is also great :p

If you have time, for a day or part of the day, rent a car and drive around the island, its a fairly small island, but do ask beforehand which areas are off limits to foreigners for safety reasons. There are some areas of Nassau even the local cab drivers wont drive into

I would head to downtown Nassau (is it Bay street?) and take pictures of the local police in their colorful uniforms, the horse drawn cabs and the straw market vendors. The library is an interesting building. Shoot the queens stairs and the harbor from the fort at the top of the hill. there are a couple churches a block or two off the main drag. Go on a Sunday for an interesting shot or two. I realize you didn't want people shots but the people of the Bahamas are among the friendliest on earth and worth meeting. Photogenic too.

Kalik beer and the "fish fry" (a huge local gathering) ; but I think it's on a Friday.

Cafe Matice

That actually is one of the best places on the island to dine at.

Even the locals did recommend it
