American Express Membership Rewards - Airline miles a good use for MR points?

Just received my 25K mr points from the most recent amex card offer. Since I don't plan on using this card very much is there a better deal than trading in points for airline miles? I have 80K+ with DL now and was thinking of adding them there. That would give me 105k++ and enough for 2 r/t tix to Europe. :) My wife likes the idea. :)

Not enough miles (105K) for two international F awards. :(

my point was, if you save up, thats the highest possible return ( > 10 cents per point, or the equivalent of > 10% cashback)

2 economy awards to europe would most likely be reasonable value, as long as DL has availablity, which was my second point, make sure to confirm that, and have them hold the awards, before transferring from amex.

In other words, you may derive more value per point by using the card ongoing than by just cashing out for the small activation bonus.

Ya, I knew what you meant. :) However, I'm semi-retired and don't spend much or travel much. Therefore, I'd probably die before I could accummulate enough points for two F awards. :D I am familiar with the low number of DL's saver awards so it may be a battle. Luckily they have partner airlines. I can also book 330 days out so that helps.

Well...I am happy to say that I was able to get two international skysaver awards to St. Maarten I picked the 12 to the 19. They didn't have those dates, but they did have the 13 to the 20. It isn't easy to find awards on exact dates that you would like, but you can get close.

I used my MR to transfer into some Delta Miles when I received a 25% bonus... so I transferred 20K MR points for 25K Delta Miles... then again I really wasn't going to earn many more MR points...

maybe that means some are coming? i wouldnt count on it though.

Is it possible to transfer MR points to Delta miles for a person other then myself? With the current Delta bonus promo, Mom needs another partner and I have the points.... She has the same last name. Anyone with this experience?
