American Express Membership Rewards - If I cancel MR do I lose all points?

Hope this hasn't been answered before and I missed it, but if I don't renew MR on my corporate card this year, do I lose all accrued points? I hate spending $75 a year on worthless points (I'm getting far more through my Citi AA and SPG Amex).

Q: What happens to the points in my Membership Rewards account if I decide to cancel my enrollment or if you cancel my enrollment?

A: If you voluntarily cancel enrollment in the program, or if you cancel your linked Card(s), you may still redeem the Membership Rewards points you've accrued as long as you keep at least one American Express® Card. You will have up to 30 days from the date of cancellation to redeem the points. If we cancel your enrollment in the program for any reason, all accrued points will be forfeited immediately. However, if we reinstate your account within one year of cancellation, any points accrued in your program account may then be redeemed for a reward (refer to complete program terms and conditions for further details).

Q: What happens to my points if I cancel all of my American Express Cards or if you cancel any of my enrolled Card accounts?

A: If you cancel all your American Express Cards, linked and non-linked, or if we cancel any linked accounts, you will forfeit immediately all the points you've accrued in the program.

I am not quite getting why you say the points are worthless. We have redeemed them for theater and concert tickets on ticketmaster, car rental and hotels. Most recently for luxury hotels in Venice, Florence and Rome Italy.

Wait -- so if I cancel my Platinum card but keep my Starwood Amex (not linked to Membership Rewards) then my MR account remains active? Even though the Starwood card is unrelated to MR?
