A6-EHA operated the first Etihad service into SYD (EY450).

Here's a photo (http://www.pbase.com/chrisg/image/76247493) of -EHA rotating off 16R @ SYD.

No worries thanks ^

Chaos as expected

IFE crashed "does on every flight!"
most food was off
F class ran out of water half way during flight
Business class crew had to wash glasses to reuse..not enough
no juice
no coke
no dessert spoons

"flight was nightmare"

CJ, was this 'trip of fools' your outbound flight?
Hopefully the former; either way, I expected a less 'Western' standard, but not as poor as you described!

Having received terrible service in the region I hope that with the new management, that your FF business is respected and you are recompensed for receiving an abysmally-run F flight.

Maybe they drugged my Arabic tea at the start of the flight, but I was on the first flight from SYD in F and didn't have any of the problems listed.

Inflight entertainment worked fine (didn't work on a later return flight though or on the leg to Europe).

I had a bottle of water for breakfast (just before landing) and was given one to take with me to drink in the car to Dubai. So if they ran out on the flight they must have a pretty good recycling system on board (perhaps I shouldn't give that to much thought!)

I had two cans of coke left in my mini-bar for the entire trip - if I'd known there was a shortage I would have gone down the back and offered them for sale.

Also juice was offered for breakfast, and bottles were available all flight from the F "lounge" at the front of the plane.

I also managed to survive eating the off food which I thought was quite tasty (perhaps it was balanced by all that recycled water I was drinking).

I may have eaten my dessert with -gasp- a soup spoon, I can't recall and frankly, would be to uncultured to know.

Not the best airline in the world - but for the price they were offering ex SYD to Europe - the service equaled the price paid.

Problems listed were predominantly on the flight back out of SYD as I understand. The Cabin manager was in tears several times during the flight as the service inspectors fro EY were on board and tears mean more than a few things went wrong. I wasn't on board but my info is extremely credible direct from EY friend on board.

Glad u noticed no issues. I'm looking forward to trying them out.

Six months from the start of SYD flights, has anyone been on this route recently?

On paper the service seems to be an exact replica of the old GF route, but being direct to AUH on the way to Dublin or Heathrow beats flying through SIN, IMO.

With the BNE-SIN-AUH flights up and running, I'm considering Etihad but am wary of the rumbles that have been touched upon here earlier in the year.

Anyone in the midle of a trip or just completed one, on Etihad through to SYD or DUB? :)
