I was told by a iDine rep. that I would get no credit if I used an Entertainment coupon. Does anyone know if in fact no points post if you do use a coupon?

Thanks

I have had miles post three times in the last two months that were all used with Entertainment coupons.
As far as I know, iDine has no way of knowing that you even used a coupon, only the amount charged to your card. And if they do know, it did not stop mine from posting promptly.
Go for it.

I agree. They have no way of knowing that you are using a coupon of any kind. And the restaurant doesn't know your card belongs to IDine. Why would this belong on spam?

I have had no problem when using a coupon at an Idine restaurant. I agree with the posters above who say there is no way Idine even knows. The total amount of the check is what is reported to Idine.

Just to confirm: I too have earned iDine points while simultaneously using a "$5 off" coupon from the local newspaper. They strongly insist that you can't use a coupon and collect iDine points, but there appears to be no enforcement mechanism for iDine's "no coupons" rule.

Idine does have a way of knowing. It depends on whether the restuarant at which you ate reports it or not.

I have usually gotten points that were used in conjunction with discount coupons. However, one time, I called to inquire why my points have not posted, and the Idine rep. informed me that it was due to the fact that I used a coupon.

In summary, in most cases, you will get points even if you used coupons. However, there are restuarants who make note of it, so you won't get to "double dip," so to speak.

Bottom line is, don't ask the Idine representatives whehter or not you could apply discount coupons and earn points. They will ALWAYS reply, "No."

Idine is a clearing house for almost all of the airlines Restaurant Partners - By placing in this forum you get the opportunity to get opinions from people loyal to all FF programs.

IMHO - Spam - Providers have there own point systems that may or may not ever be redeemed into Air/Hotel Points - Here is flyer talks description of the SPAM Category -

S.P.A.M. Sites with Points and Alternative Miles, including referral bonuses, congas, and any of the other loyalty currencies

Perhaps an Idine or Restaurant Category to go along with the Credit Card and Phone Categories would be appropriate since iDine is not Spam

i just had about 6 idines denied because i used a coupon...they were all from the same restaurant...i am pretty certain that the restaurant tells idine (somehow) about the coupon becuase...how would they know...likewise i had one very expensive meal where i used a 20 percent off coupon..and i got the miles...it must have to do with the individual restaurant

I believe there is a fine print about using coupons. The official rule is (was?) that you have to get one of two, coupon or idine discount/FF miles.

If you have received idine credit with coupons then you got extra bonus. But if you didn't get the miles with coupon, then please don't complain...

idine takes ?% (does anyone know what the % is?) of the bill so if a restaurant takes a coupon such as Entertainment (usually 50% off), it can't break even on those bills if it takes both discounts...

my two cents.
