American Express Membership Rewards - amex spg point expiration

I am considering getting the amex spg but I saw that points expire after 1 yr. of no activity. I usually don't stay at spg properties so will using the credit card count as activity? Thanks

yes. Charging once a year is all you need, but why limit it to that?

I do stay at their properties on occasion, but not guaranteed to be once a year, I usually prefer Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, or Omni hotels, usually around the same price as the W, St. Regis, or Westin anyways.
I do intend to use the card a lot however :D
