Hi all,

This just in from AMX Customer Service (on my platinum account):

Thank you for your e-mail.

Please be informed that Best Value Guarantee is one of the benefits of your Cardmembership.

This program guarantees eligible Cardmembers the lowest price for most items purchased with an American Express Card. If any store promotes in a printed and dated advertisement a lower price for an identical item within 60 days after the original purchase date, the Cardmember may be eligible to be reimbursed for the price difference up to $250.00.

In order to qualify for a refund, the Cardmembers account must be in good standing. Refunds will not be paid if the account is past due on the date of the Cardmembers request, the date of claims settlement, or if the Cardmembers account is cancelled.

For more information on this insurance, please contact Best Value Guarantee customer service at 1-800-557-8317 (24 hours a day - 7 days a week). From outside the United States, please call collect at 1-303-273-6498.

I hope that I have provided you with sufficient information to resolve your inquiry to your satisfaction. We assure you of our best services at all times.

Sincerely,

/S. Shankar

Good to know! thanks OP... Hope it is not one of those ... stupid mistakes by the services team ... Why is it not then advertised? Does the time when you took the card matter (ie older contracts continue till they refresh for those customers)?

.

I was told this program was dropped a few months ago by a customer service rep.

This program has been dropped. I called about a month ago to confirm because a laptop I had bought had dropped in price, but the CSR Supervisor told me the benefit is no longer as of 10/06 (I think that's the date she told me).

Incidentally, if the OP doesn't mind trying to follow through with that and posting what the results are, I think I (as well as other amex cardholders) would appreciate hearing a first-hand experience.

Hi all,

I'll go ahead and follow through on my BVG request and post results. Should have feedback for everybody this week as I purchased some running gear and discovered that the prices had been dropped a week later.

Okay,

First, sorry for getting everybody's hopes up. I know I'd read elsewhere that BVG was dead but when I got this response from AMX CS earlier this month, I thought that perhaps there was a mistake and it was still good. I just called the BVG number and was informed that the number only existed so that they could inform cardmembers that the service had been terminated.

Eric
