Europe - Athens on the Weekend

I'm considering a long weekend trip to Athens. I'm wondering whether things (museums, historical sites, etc) are open on the weekends?

I'm considering a trip in late April either arriving late Fri departing early Tue, or arriving late Thur departing early Tue. I'm partial to the option getting in Friday, but if I'm going to need Friday to see alot of stuff I'll want to get in on Thursday instead.

Don't worry, most things will be open at the weekend - Monday tends to be closing day for museums and the like.

Many places are open over the weekends, but make sure you check the timings.
Some museums close pretty early.

Most shops (except restaurants) are generally closed on Sundays.

The public museums are closed on Monday (i.e. Archaeological) while private (cycladic art, Benaki) are closed on Tuesday. All should be open on weekends as are all the shops, etc.. in the Plaka area. You'll have plenty to keep you busy.

Great this is good to know! I've got a trip booked for Thursday through a Monday for some R & R time.
