Can one go between Macau and Zhongshan back and forth with bus service? Is that better than the ferry? Would taxi cost about how much?

Is that better than the ferry? Would taxi cost about how much? rkkwan Mar 24, 07, 4:59 pm Very easy. From Macau, take a local bus, taxi, or free casino shuttle to the Portas do Cerro land border crossing. After you cross the border, you'll exit into a plaza with steps leading down to a humongous underground mall. http://rkkwan.zenfolio.com/p371008151/?photo=830738294 Go down the steps, look to your left and there's another sets of stairs or escalators down to the Kee Kwan Motor Road terminal in the B2 level. (You can see their blue and red sign on the left in the above photo). Frequent buses to Zhongshan and other towns in the area from there. --- Edit: You can even buy the tickets at a booth after you left Macau but before getting through the Chinese border. [Warning: lines may be long at the Chinese immigration for foreigners there!] http://rkkwan.zenfolio.com/p371008151/?photo=671368153 parioli Mar 25, 07, 9:35 am Super info! Would you suggest bus over ferry from Macau to Zhongshan? Am I correctly guessing that buses are more frequent ( I understand that there are not tham many ferries each day) and cheaper? rkkwan Mar 25, 07, 9:38 am I don't even know there's a ferry service from Macau to Zhongshan. Why would that be if it will be more expensive, slower and less frequent? Only ferry service I know from Macau is to Hong Kong and Shekou in Shenzhen (infrequent). iancanton Mar 30, 07, 12:41 pm Can one go between Macau and Zhongshan back and forth with bus service? Would taxi cost about how much? to save time (from having to wait for the last of ur fellow bus passengers), take a local macau bus to the border, then pass through immigration. a taxi (i think the official ones are green-and-yellow) will cost about 120 yuan, depending on ur negotiating skills: my price was after the last bus to zhongshan had gone. avoid the taxi touts who jump on u as soon as u're out of the customs building; keep walking diagonally to the right till u pass a bus station, then u ought to see a line of taxis. ian. :) tbear Apr 2, 07, 5:13 am Took a bus from the Fu Hua Hotel in Zhongshan to Macau/Gongbei (China) last month. I believe it's operated by the same company that owns the hotel. I've only taken the bus going in that direction, but I've done it annually for the last five years. Bus service is every 20 minutes and the trip takes about 70 minutes. See this link: http://www.fuhuahotel.com.cn/web/en/fhbc.asp Cost is now RMB 25 for one way (was only RMB 15 previously). Bus terminal at the China-Macau border is maybe 150 yards from the China immigration building. Long walk if you've got heavy luggage, but you can sometimes hire someone to cart it for you for 5-10 RMB. There's another bus company that does the same run from the Zhongshan International Hotel (about 100 yards away from the Fu Hua Hotel). It might be the same one that rkkwan mentions as it's bus terminal is in the underground mall next to the China immigration building. Don't know the fares or schedule but you might be able to email the hotel to get the info using this link:http://www.interhotel-zs.com/index.php?Locale=en-us. |
