I've heard a lot about maintaining status until April 2009. Does when you cross a threshold have any impact on how long your status is good for?
I ask because I now have 59 nights through prior stays....will be staying at an HGI for 3 weeks straight pulling me into April.

As noted in the T&Cs (and in the numerous threads discussing the rolling tier), the length of your status is wholly dependent upon the year in which you earn or renew status, not the month.
If you hit a threshold in 2007, you get status until April of 2009 -- regardless of the month or day it's done. If you hit the threshold in 2008 -- again, regardless of the month or day -- you get status until April of 2010.

You can pretty much bank on Mike's information, Roger: April is important because that is when the status year ends.

Confirming nako's information above, I had my first stay of 2007 on January 3. I was above 28 stays within the prior 12 month period. On checking the rolling tier page, my diamond status was extended thru April 2009.
If I never stay again at a Hilton, my status will expire on April 30, 2009. Thus, April 1 really isn't a key date in any way. Today, rolling tier says for me:
As of March 2007, you have enough Stays to maintain your Diamond VIP tier until Apr 30, 2009.

April 30th is the "key date": that's the date all statuses expire with Hilton (second calendar year after date-of-qualification), no matter when during the year they were earned (Jan 1, 2007 = April 30, 2009, and Dec 31, 2007 = April 30, 2009).
