MilesBuzz! - New fee to convert Diner's Club pts. to BA miles

I just completed my transfer of Diner's Club points to an equal amount of British Air miles as I've done every year at this time for several years. This time, for the first time, I was charged a fee by Diner's Club to do the transfer: $23.04. When I inquired who gets this money, the DC service rep said BA has always charged the fee, but DC had "absorbed" it until this year. No fee was mentioned in any of DC's monthly promo's of this program. The fee is negligible given the value of the promotion (in my case, 48,000 miles) but still. . .

Welcome to FlyerTalk, billmc! It would be better to discuss this in the Diners Club forum, but since you are new...

The fee applies to all points to miles transfers on all airlines (not just BA) and it was announced early this year in the monthly newsletter. Actually, the fee is based on the number of points transfered rather than the resulting miles so the fee for BA transfers during the 2-1 promo is half of what it could be.

Search the Diners Club forum (http://www.flyertalk.com/forumcgi/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&forum=Diners+Club&number=70&DaysPrune=5&LastLogin=)for more details.

Many unhappy DC customers (now ex-customers) when the "points transfer fee" started in Feb.
