Do you know if it is available at Waikoloa also? sbc94523 Mar 19, 07, 4:46 pm Mahalo! It is such a great deal and the staff there were awesome. Do you know if it is available at Waikoloa also? Yes, its available for all the Hiltons in Hawaii except the GW on Maui. jmd001 Mar 19, 07, 4:57 pm The Going Hawaiian VIP award is "ALON". Actually, I think technically the award is now called an "ALON2". I believe you could also use a "GLONP2" for the same 175K pts. In early Dec 05, I used a pair of ALON2s at Waikoloa. Instead of two rooms, they upgraded us to a 1-bedroom suite with a connecting second bedroom! :) :) :) :) :) :) YMMV. I thought they treated us very nice as well. We had a nice ocean view in the rainbow tower which also overlooked the nightly luau and fireworks show. ^ ^ spierce Mar 19, 07, 5:29 pm Where did you find out about this offer? The former is for Hawaii hotels only; the latter is for all other properties. Mike cmjaffe Mar 19, 07, 7:11 pm and if you only want to stay 4 nights and have a HH Amex. you can use the AXON code to get it for 125,000 in Hawaii... which is sweet since it would "normally" cost 160,000 points. jmd001 Mar 19, 07, 7:14 pm Never have understood: What is the point of the ALON and TEEN (now ALON2 and TEEN2) awards compared to GLONP (now GLONP2) award? They all cost 175K pts. A GLONP2 award let you stay at the same hotels that ALON2 and TEEN2 let you stay (where all the ALON2 and TEEN2 hotels are Cat 6), plus a GLONP2 also lets you stay at any Cat 6 hotel in world. Is there anything that an ALON2 or TEEN2 gets you that a GLONP2 does not? What am I missing here? jmd001 Mar 19, 07, 7:46 pm and if you only want to stay 4 nights and have a HH Amex. you can use the AXON code to get it for 125,000 in Hawaii... which is sweet since it would "normally" cost 160,000 points. AXON awards work for any Cat 5 or 6 anywhere in the world, not just hotels in Hawaii, as the quote somewhat implies. VelvetKennedy Mar 19, 07, 10:05 pm I just ask for a 'going global vip award" when I call and that scores 6 nights for 175k. I've got diamond status but I'm not sure what status is required. True for the true VIP awards (e.g., GLON2, GLONP2, TEEN2, ALON2). On the other hand, I believe the AXON award is really a benefit of having an HHonors Platinum AMEX card, not a VIP award per se. That is, you need that card and an HHonors account to get that award, but I believe you don't need to have any particular HHonors elite level; i.e., a "Blue" could claim an AXON, but generally it is unlikely (though not impossible) for a "Blue" to have 125K points in one's account. An additional confusion factor is that the phone number you call to book an AXON generally gets answered as "Diamond Desk", but you don't have to be a Diamond to claim an AXON. Do they give you any promos for having the Hilton Visa Card? Poly Pal Mar 20, 07, 5:21 pm Does anyone know if the 6 nights @ 175k can be split 3 nights at HHV and 3 nights at Waikaloa? jmd001 Mar 20, 07, 6:06 pm Does anyone know if the 6 nights @ 175k can be split 3 nights at HHV and 3 nights at Waikaloa? I know of no single HHonors awards of any kind that can be split between hotels (period). jmd001 Mar 20, 07, 6:07 pm Do they give you any promos for having the Hilton Visa Card? In the past (but not recently) I have seen some HH Visa promos that give extra points, but never any awards per se. That is very nice info... Thanks! I used it to break up a stay with 4 nights at the HHV and 4 nights at HWV awesome deal!!!^ ^ Brendan May 24, 07, 2:36 pm Alect & Jmd001: So true! The ALON2 & TEEN2 are redundant today, but before June 2003 each of these awards cost only 100K vs. 150K for the original GLONP. BTW, when HHonors raised the point prices in 2003, they added the 2 to the new awards to tell 'em apart from the old ones. Brendan May 24, 07, 2:38 pm Does anyone know if the 6 nights @ 175k can be split 3 nights at HHV and 3 nights at Waikaloa? Yes, I know. It cannot be split. If U have an HHonors Amex, consider 2 AXONs mentioned above for 4+4 nights for 250K total. Rocketman93455 May 25, 07, 12:32 pm Does anyone know if the 6 nights @ 175k can be split 3 nights at HHV and 3 nights at Waikaloa? I just used 2 AXONs as Brendan suggested for 250K with 4X4 at the Village and Waikoloa. Awesome deal if you ask me. |
