Hey guys. Saw two open seats on an exit row and it will be myself and my nine-year old daughter with me. Before I make the change online and then have them switch us when we check-in what is Jet Blue's policy and is it enforced for children in the exit row?
Thanks,
Marc

FAA regs/policy (regardless of airline)...no one under 15 in the exit row.

The flight attendants personally visit the exit row prior to departure for every fight to verify Customers are eligible and willing to assist. Please do not take the exit row. Often times parents do this and it often creates a burden when the flight is trying to depart and we have to reseat. I had an instance where the parent checked in online at home with her exit row and her four children. The flight departed late after finding no volunteers (in the number of four together) to move and the mother was INSISTANT that they all seat together. In the end I offered vouchers to anyone that would move. The flight departed 11 minutes late because of this occurence.
This actually occurs a lot. The gate agents try their best to catch it at the gate but that isn't always possible.
Additionally, when you assign your seats to the exit row you are acknowledging that you AND your companion(s) are eligible. Additionally, it may be difficult once you arrive at the airport to find new seats together..
Please be advised I am posting this on my personal behalf, it is not an official posting from JetBlue.

JAX2BOS is correct. The minimum age to sit in the exit row is 15. This is mandated by the FAA and we can get in major trouble is we violate this policy. We had some problems with this when we reconfigured the aircraft and the exit row seats went from 11 and 12 to 10 and 11. Familes who booked row 10 expecting to be out of the exit row now found themselves smack dab in the middle of one. It all worked out in the end.
Don't quote me on this as I don't have the regulations on me, but I don't know if the rule applies while the aircraft is airborne. Give me a little bit and I will look it up for you!

On my last three flights there has been a problem with people booking exit rows for their children. In all three instances, they were not allowed to take their seats. In one case, both parents and 1 child had them booked, and the
FA made one of the parents give up their exit row seat and sit with 13 yr old, that was reseated. This was on 2 different airlines ( United and NWA)

The rule applies in flight as well. If a child moves to an exit seat while in flight, that child has to be moved back to their non-exit row seat. This also applies to adults not able to meet the criteria noted on the briefing card.

Saved me from digging through the FARs! Thank You NWAFA!

Can't go wrong with row 2. Easy access to all the snacks and drinks! Plus your one of the first off the aircraft!
