Has anyone read or heard lately about how many months of cash they have left? I've heard so many different versions... I was thinking of buying a Magnifica ticket for July but am a little cautious...
Alitalia MilleMiglia - How long will Alitalia survive?View Full Version : How long will Alitalia survive? bostontraveler Mar 16, 07, 10:53 am Has anyone read or heard lately about how many months of cash they have left? I've heard so many different versions... I was thinking of buying a Magnifica ticket for July but am a little cautious... Gargoyle Mar 16, 07, 12:57 pm Magnifica tix are fully refundable, and if you put it on a credit card you have recourse through the credit card company. There are different cash reserve numbers floating around, and there are merger discussions going on (behind the curtain, I haven't seen much in the Italian newspapers the past month), but I don't see them disappearing before the autumn. Summer is their high profit season. Remember, everything in Italy is handled in a bit more of a dramatic fashion than other places, but in reality change happens very slowly. SmilingBoy Mar 16, 07, 1:25 pm Alitalia's "good news" always is that their cash reserves will still last for a few months to a year before they have to cease operations... I would never fly Alitalia anymore (did it once, had an aborted take-off, and they lost my bags on outbound and return...), but that's just me. SmilingBoy. italian7 Mar 16, 07, 1:41 pm They will be bought up before the summer, so there is no need to worry. psyflyer Mar 16, 07, 6:44 pm AZ has been in such states for as long as i can remember... its par for the course. What would that mean in terms of switching alliances? italian7 Mar 17, 07, 12:16 pm Which of the bidders do you see as the most likely ones? What would that mean in terms of switching alliances? I really hope in Texas Pacific Group, but I don't think the Italian govt. like them because they are not 'italian'. So im guessing either Management and Capitol (with Airone) or the other one with Mr. Profumo and some guy from AirDolomiti. Seems odd that two of the leading bidders both seem like they could be shells for LH. ? docklander Mar 26, 07, 7:06 am Hi Todays FT quoted AZ's cash reserves at around USD450m down from around 700. (wondering if this is a slow or fast descent). Anyone hear any new news on the bidding/sale front? |
