Starwood Preferred Guest - Kierland Villas - and SPG50 honored?

Hi all,

I am an SPG Gold member, and have been lurking here for a while.

I know that Kierland Villas does not honor free night or upgrade awards, but the T&C are a little ambiguous about the SPG50 award. Does anyone know if it is accepted?

Also, at Kierland and other Villas property, do stays count toward status? I believe that there are no points credited for the stay except for points related to spending at the hotel. Is this true?

The Kierland Villas are part of SVO (Starwood Vacation Ownership). I don't believe they participate in the "normal" components of the Starwood program. When you called them to ask what did they say?

You receive points for all spend including golf, spa, room.
You do get nights and stay credits.

Not sure if they accept spg50 or not.

Not sure if they accept spg50 or not.Other SVO properties (including in PHX!) do not give stay credit or points for the room rate (only for incidental spending, like restaurant, spa, etc.). And don't give plat upgrades officially. Is it confirmed that the Kierland Villas are an exception and do give stay and spend credit, unlike the SVO norm? Or is this an informal policy that is manually put through by this property, off-plan?

Where would be the better place to get these answers -- the SPG Gold help desk or the Villas themselves?@:-)

Incidentally, we are not villa owners so we would be staying on cash booked through the SPG site, unless we can find a better deal elsewhere. Thanks!

This information from the Terms and Conditions of Starwood Preferred Guest might help:

(b) At the following properties, Members will earn Starpoints for all Eligible Charges; however upgrades, late check-out, and other in-hotel benefits are not available. Free Night Awards and other hotel Awards are accepted in the hotel portion of these properties, but not the villa portion.

Properties:

Westin Kierland Resort & Villas, Scottsdale, AZ

Westin St. John Resort & Villas, Great Cruz Bay, St. John, USVI

The Westin Mission Hills Villas, Rancho Mirage, CA

So, SPG50 would not be available at the villas, but possibly at the resort. You would have to call the Customer Contact Center to check for availability, not book it online.

Also, if you earn Starpoints in the room rental portion of your hotel posting from any of these properties - villas or resorts - you would receive stay credit.
