I am on CX 312 at 16:55 from HKG-PEK tomorrow (3/16) in business (2 class plane).

How's the food/service?

Any difference/comparison with CX 318 (leaves 1 hour later)?

Also, does this route have the NBC seats?

No it is a regional flight, unless there is a last minute sub.

The meal will be a dinner, and no difference with the later flight (?)...

Typical CX regional medium haul affair with appetizer and salad, entree, fruit and cheese cart, dessert, and tea/coffee/pralines. It is similar to CX flight to ICN/Japan... you can check the J menu thread for similar references. No PEK flight, but should be similar to the NRT/SIN menus.

Well...I am at the Wing, so I will report back. The "good news", assuming I understand it correctly, is that while it is "business class service", I have been given seat 2A which is a first class seat. Not sure if the business class seats have been retrofitted with NBC, but there's nothing wrong with a stand alone first class seat, if that's what I get. I also bet the food in the lounge will be better than the food on the plane, so I think I'll snack at the Wing, beofre boarding. Bye for now.

If the plane has a first class then the business class seats will be longhaul business class seats. But the biggest difference on a day flight is that given a longhaul plane you will have AVOD, which regional business class doesn't get.

Yes, the food in the first class wing is better than onboard-J; the wines are similar.

The plane was an A330 which had two rows of first class seats, then a seperate cabin with two rows of business class seats (old seats) and then a seperate cabin with about 5 more rows of business class. Reminded me of the plane I flew non-stop JFK-HKG two years ago.

There were only 3 people who were allowed to sit in the first class section? I guess OW Emeralds? That was nice. There were about 10 other people spaced out in the conventional business class sections.

The Shiraz was good. The food was fine...the chinese beef dish was tasty. The personal service and attention was truly first class!

I was actually underwhelmed by the food/drinks available at The Wing. People may rave about it for the structural amenities, but as far as first class lounges go, the quality was business classs on some levels: Lanson Champagne, Johnnie Waler Red whiskey, etc. The food was OK...a little suchi, some noodles, cheese and fruits -- nothing "special" like some of the other "mothership" lounges around the world.
