Am trying to do something possibly impossible - find affordable accommodation in Fukuno city (Toyama prefecture) for the 2nd of May (coinciding with major festival) for 4 people. Would appreciate any good English links for either accommodation in general for Fukuno or specific hostel/hotel.
Thanks,
Y-Gal
PS - You'll probably see me raising a number of other threads while I plan our itinerary for this April / May.

Welcome to FlyerTalk yobitsugigal !
Feel free to ask questions, but do your best to keep related topics together. It keeps the board uncluttered and will make it easier to do a search in the future.
Thanks.

I'm sure if there were English links for Fukuno-machi, you would have found them yourself.
Here's one in Japanese. It shows a couple of places starting at 5200 yen a night, which is cheap.

However, there are also very few available rooms.
You may want to stay in the city of Toyama, which is an hour away by train, according to the English-language website of Nanto, the city that Fukuno was merged into.

If you stay in Toyama, you might want to stay in the Toyoko Inn just across from the station. It's part of a chain, college dorm basic, but clean and safe. Also, you can't beat the price.

Hi there,
By chance I have come across the Super Hotel chain - single Y4980 per night double Y6980 per night in Takaoka. There's 17 hotels in the chain throughout Japan. Bookings can be done over the net. Pay at vending machine when you arrive - but includes buffet brekkie.
Now - I just need to work out if it's possible to get from the festival (which concludes at midnight) after the last train 9:45pm)......
Thanks for your advice and help

It may have been better to post this in the Japan forum, but...
Did you check the english-language version of Rakuten? It's at http://travel.rakuten.co.jp/en/.
Searching for Takaoka turns up a number of hits, and I'm sure if this had been in the Japan forum, there would have been even more suggestions.
