Asiana have the standard allow for baggage as other international airlines but how do they treat sporting equipment? Has anybody experienced how Asiana would treat a boxed / bagged bicycle? Would it be included as 1 of the allowed checked baggage or an allowed extra? What about weight? Am I looking at a large excess baggage fee?

Total weight of checked baggage not exceeding 40kg (88 pounds) for First Class passengers, 30kg (66 pounds) for Business Class passengers and 20kg (44 pounds) for Travel Class passengers.

Thanks, B2O.

Well, Asiana airline's Korean website says "fold-able" bicycle is considered as one piece, for piece-based US route. On the other weight-based routes, there's no comment here, but I think they will weigh the bicycle and charge extra. That is, if your checked baggage is 15kg and your bicycle is 10kg, they will charge you for extra 5kg, if you're travelling economy class. No matter what the size is, no matter what the number of baggage is. Just total weight is important. (That's what I heard. Not accurate. Call Asiana.)
