Over the past year, I have accumulated over 140,000 thankyou points by using flight points and a few bonuses. However, I still have over 100,000 flight points left in my account begging to be transferred to the thankyou network... My monthly charges on my Chairmen card are usually about $3K - so the chances of redeeming these flight points soon are almost impossible. With this pace, it will probably take me atleast a year and a half. Does anyone know a way how to somehow extract those points faster?

1) Put all your monthly spend on Chairman
2) Start by maximizing your select spend points
thesearethe only 2 ways to get the purchase points for the flights points to transfer
this is the biggest neg of Chairman...but it is also pos of chairman since you effectivly earn 2 pts per $
you can't use chairman as your second card when you earn the flight points...
Flight Points are a promotional strategy designed to create exactly this situation. Citi has given you 100,000 points in a fashion that makes you feel as if you have earned them, but they were really a gift. The only way to redeem them is to spend $100,000, somewhat less if you use the card at supermarkets, drug stores, gasoline stations, parking or public transport.
One approach is to buy gift cards at the supermarket or drug store to redeem at merchants where using the card would earn only one point per dollar, but this is only sensible if you find gift cards for stores where you normally shop. (Publix giftcard selection is mediocre, and at some stores you have to buy them separately at the customer service counter.)

You can also buy TY points for 2.5 cents each which I'm told will get matched with flight points. Limit is 30k/yr. With this route, you're essentially purchasing TY points for 1.25 cents each. Many people here feel they're worth much more than that...
