Very tempting, too bad there's no double points but you can't have it all.

from Boston to Seattle for two and rebooked with free companion fare. Not only did I get a free companion ticket but the price for the flight dropped over $25.00 since I booked so I saved money on my tx too!:p

JetBlue AMEX ran this promo last year around May and I booked 3 of us to fly JFK-FLL. JetBlue gladly offered double points on 2 of the flights. Since the third was free, no points at all were earned.
Just mention to the friendly rep that you'd like to earn double points since this promo is not bookable online. This is jetBlue...they do things different ^

Dude this rocks! Bought two tickets IAD-OAK-IAD for $310 and then got the Le Meridien San Francisco for 2 nights for $237.
Freakin' deal and a great weekend of cheap but excellent travel coupled with SF Giants Baseball.
This combined with the fact that the agent enabled double point on the bought ticket and gave us seats in row 5 so min. 36 inches of legroom! Way to go jetBlue.

Is there a link to the offer? I remember this from last year, but I haven't seen an e-mail about this year's yet. I have a trip booked 4/17-4/27, so it might be worth re-booking the return. If not, I can always plan a May trip.
Thanks.

Has anyone been able to use the companion flight with a TruBlue award flight? As in, getting both flights for free?

Welcome to FT! This is a "BOGO" (Buy One, Get One Free) offer. Therefore, you can't receive both flights for free.

I don't see why not, unless it says otherwise in the fine print. Last year I booked under this promo and I believe the fares were on sale at ~$59 NYC-Florida.

That's good to hear. I usually lose out on good fairs because I wait too long. Looks like I'm making out like a bandit for my next trip to Chicago. $49 each way plus my partner flies free. The boss is going to love me for staying way under budget.

Setup my travel plans with JetBlue. $139.60 RT JFK-ORD for 2 passangers first week of may. That's a decent fare for one person...awesome fare for 2.

Don't suppose they are running anything similar for JetBlue Amex-challenged folk? ;-) Have other Amex-OPEN products but this seems like a JetBlue specific offer... What a great deal!

any limit to the amount of tickets you can buy with this deal? i.e., is it only the first ticket that comes with a free companion ticket, or if I buy two tickets, do I get two free? (one for each one I bought)
thanx!

Becareful with this.. There are a number of unmention restrictions which they are checking now...
The traveler MUST be the primary card holder.. How I found this out is I bought my wife a ticket and a companion fare for my son yesterday. My wife was listed as the secondary and Jetblue just called wanting payment for my son's ticket to Flordia, since only the primary ticket holder can get a companion fare..
So the answer to your question is, if you buy two, you can still only get one free... The thing that really irritates me is that I got the jetblue card for this.. I had a bunch of summer travel I was planning and figured this was a good incentive to get it..
End of the story is, they allowed me to cancel the tickets with full refund.. But beware.. I think they are checking a little more now with this program..

thanx for this info. very interesting. both my wife and I have jetblue amex cards (she's primary one one, and I'm on the other) so I guess we could get two free tickets, if we booked under two separate reservations, using both cards?

As an authorized cardholder on my mother's account, I just tried to book a BOGO fare for myself and my boyfriend. The B6 rep wouldn't allow it because I am not the primary cardholder and the restriction is that the primary cardholder must fly. That is completely ridiculous because the benefit that they're offering -- buy one ticket, get one ticket free -- is being extended to cardholders, not fliers specifically. Since anyone can have a B6 Amex, independent of whether or not they fly on the airline, it seems a little outrageous to force the primary cardholder to fly. Here's a perfect scenario: let's say my mom doesn't fly but likes to rack up the B6 points that she gets when she makes purchases on the B6 Amex. When she accumulates enough for a free ticket, she flies my sister from a city served by B6 to JFK to spend some time with her. The benefit of having the B6 Amex is extended to my mom even though she is not flying herself. Why should this promo be any different if she's paying for the purchase using the B6 card?

as a general follow-up, a b6 customer service supervisor just informed me that the restriction was imposed by amex, not by b6. i think it's pretty ludicrous no matter who imposed it and i'm going to pursue it. i'll post as to the outcome.

The "cardholder must fly" restriction was in force a year ago when I looked into using this promotion. I think they want to limit use of the promo, pure and simple.

Given that it's AMEX that is imposing the restriction and not b6, I think it's more than just that they want to limit who uses it... I think it's Amex wanting to maximize their potential cardmembers... If they allow non-card members to reap the rewards of card membership, those people have no incentive to ever get their own b6 Amex... I think it's a pretty poor policy though because, as I've outlined in the other thread, there are many reasons why one would have a card, but not necessarily be a b6 flier... In addition, why should I get a b6 Amex when I have a Reward Plus card that could give me flights on b6 or a variety of other airlines? It's a poor policy that Amex is instituting and it's a poor decision that b6 has apparently accepted it...

just called and tried to book, I had applied for the JB amex over the weekend, but it probably won't get here in time so I called with my amex blue. They transferred to a supervisor who wouldn't book it since they didn't show me as having an 'active' JB amex.

an update, i (finally) got jetblue to give me the free flight.
Numerous phone calls after i was approved, but they said that i needed the jetblue card in front of me, and to call amex. amex said it wouldn't be there in time, call jetblue...etc etc.
I gave up and booked the fare anyways (we need a vacation), and emailed jetblue to let them know my dissatisfaction. Three emails and a request for a supervisor I have a (pending) credit to my account. go figure.

Thanks to this thread, I was able to take advantage of the BOGO offer in the last two days of the sale, but with fewer options of the cheapest fare to my destination.
Not too excited about JB pricing structure. Our departure flight was $99. One itinerary, earlier in the day was $399 (the one I wanted). The day after the sale it dropped to $99. Went ahead and paid the change fee, but I havn't seen that big of a change in a flight overnight without a new promo.
In the end, BOS to HOU still cost about $350. Now with the change fee, over $400. Choosing only $99 fares would have required a hotel stay based on our proximity to the airport, and negated the cheaper fare.
Apparently my AMEX promo email setting were what caused me to miss the email and not JetBlue promo email settings. Good to know for next year.
