Budget Travel - Visiting Sri Lanka and New Zealand using one air ticket

Can anyone suggest the cheapest way to fly from UK to Sri Lanka and New Zealand on the same air ticket.

Sri Lankan airlines do not fly to New Zealand and Air NZ do not fly to Sri Lanka.

Best I could come up with is an Escapade RTW fare:-

London-Singapore-Columbo-Singapore-Auckland-LA-London

About 924 plus tax for departures in November 2007.

I'd go to a branch of STA Travel and see what they can come up with. Given the route you want the online booking engines will probably come up with a complicated route that a real person can better

Sounds old fashioned but alanR is right - talk to a friendly travel agent. STA, Flight Bookers, Trailfinders and Bridge the World have all sent me round the world, often on unusual or complex intineries which you would have no hope of booking online.

If you get a Round The World ticket then they can also advise you of the other tricks you can get away with on that particular fare, were you can stopover, if you can do open jaw etc.
