A few days old, but did not see this posted here. It seems as if jetBlue is still creative and innovative, thinking outside the box...contrary to what some may think.

It's things like this that earn an A+ in the airline industry:

What happened to the passengers waiting at JFK to go to Florida aboard the plane that left BTV and overflew them?

Since the JFK-MCO was cancelled, jetBlue looked at that particular flight and saw 60 or so people continuing onto JFK anyway. They figured it would be better to fly BTV-MCO for their convenience and to have that aircraft down in PBI later for a makeup flight. They killed two birds with one stone.

JFK had 66 cancellations as it was. It's just cool that jetBLue flew the flight nonstop to avoid further delays and strandings up there.

Sounds like Jetblue did the right thing.

How is overflying a problematic hub "creative" and "innovative"?

"Creative," "innovative," "A+"? Hardly.

I'm having a real hard time understanding you, Bam Bam. You can't even give them credit for doing one thing right. They knew they couldn't fly BTV-JFK that morning. So, instead of leaving everyone in BTV with no place to go except their home/hotel, they took the 60 or so passangers straight to Florida w/o much of a delay or any connections.

Yeah, they had problems that week in Febuary (14-19 if I remember correctly), but they are not complete failures. The managers, crew leaders, and dispatchers for that BTV flight made a real heads up play.

Seat13C explained it great. I'll add that it is innovative because other airlines simply would not do that. The article mentions this is the first time jetBlue has done that...I would be willing to be that airlines like UA, DL, NW, CO, AA, US, etc. have not/would not do such a thing. I may be wrong - and if it has happened, maybe only a handful of times since commercial aviation was born. But the fact is that jetBlue did so on 4 other flights that day. It's common sense...fly over the bad weather to get the majority of customers directly where they need to go. It was a win-win situation for the company and customers alike. That's called innovation...especially in the airline industry where most things are soooooo traditional.

Contrary to what you think, and, certainly, based on your very limited knowledge (obviously) of the way airlines operate, this has been done many times. I have seen WN do it, as well as UA and AA. Overflying a stop which is having major challenges is quite common.

Hardly creative.

I say thumbs up to Blue. jetBlue really is fabulous and they deserve some well deserved positive accolades.

I say thumbs down to people who won't give credit where credit is due.
