I haved been staying at the Oakwood Serviced Apartments in Seoul Korea for the last 4 years and it has been excellent. Spacious in size, daily service, many of the amenities of a 5 star hotel and very well located. I have for three years used upscale serviced apartments for short stay as well - 3-5,6 days when I travel around Asia. Oakwood, Ascott - a Singaporean Company and a few others. These apartments are particularly useful for business because I can hold meetings in the dining room around a table or the living room as opposed to a hotel room where it obviously looks like a bedroom.

The remarkable thing is that these Serviced Apartments are on average 1/3rd less expensive that equivalent 5* hotels and are excellent value. The comparison between a 1 bedroom suite in a 5* hotel and a 1 bedroom apartment is stunning. For many years I stayed at the Grand Intercontinental Seoul in a 1 Br King Suite and cut my costs by 35% by moving to the Oakwood.

I recommend a Forum to discuss Serviced Apartments for both short and long stay use by members.

I think these can be handled by starting a thread in the geographic destination where the poster seeks a serviced apartment. I have seen threads like this in the London forum and also the Tokyo/Japan forum.

I don't think it requires a separate forum -- especially since the hotel forums are also for hotel frequent guest programs and I have never heard of a serviced apartment chain that has such a program.

So my view is that I don't think it's really necessary to make it a separate forum.

Actually both Oakwood and Ascott have Mileage Award programs associated with stays at their propereties. UA, AA, SQ etc. While the have attributes of hotels, they are significantly different. Many FT'ers could benefit from the added value of Serviced Apartments if more experiences about them was shared. Just one opinion.

I agree with this assessment.
