Hi all,
I've been asked to find the best way to organise 4 adults and 3 children from Frankfurt to Brisbane. Details:
2 adults (FIL + MIL) in J - they are commencing in BRS (or optionally LHR) to get to FRA
2 Adults (BIL + SIL) + 3 Kids (6, 4 and 2) in Y
Dep FRA no earlier than 8 December 2007
Dep BNE no later than 3 January 2008
1 stop definitely preferred - preference FRA-SIN/HKG-BNE
Payment can be organised in Australia or UK or DE - whichever is cheapest :)
All suggestions greatly appreciated.
Cheers

...Cheapest is to fly some other airline instead of QF. Germany has some of the cheapest fares in Europe to SE Asia, so buying separate tickets (FRA-SIN, SIN-BNE or whatever routing you want) is almost certain to be cheaper. But QF won't play that game (at least won't make it easy for you). Some German TAs are quite adept at this, but I don't have a specific contact.

OTOH for me the QF Singapore website has only once had a hiccup regarding the purchase of a ticket online. And that is for both Aus and overseas CCs. And that one problem required presenting the CC at checkin for a one way ticket. With a day's (or more) stopover that really shouldn't be an issue as you are not checking your luggage through. Your ticket in any case will be an eticket.
Or call BA's Singapore office which they share with QF.
I have a reservation open with them now :D for May.
And of course there are a number of online Singapore travel agents. But their documentation requirements tend to be more than QF's
Why do I know this? Tickets are a whole lot less expensive SIN-PER-SIN than PER-SIN-PER :)
Happy wandering

Any pre-existing FF affiliations that should be taken into account? (For them, not you!)

Thanks for suggestions so far:
Prefer a single ticket - MIL is not good with any stress while travelling - even if it saves some $$$
1 x BAEC Blue + 2 x QF NB + add the kids to QFF
That being said, I will price out SIN-BNE-SIN and HKG-BNE-SIN - just to compare...

I believe the Singapore Qantas call centre closed and all calls are being redirected to Australia.
Not sure what is happening with BA's call centre there - maybe it's gone to India, or perhaps Qantas is looking after it in Australia - or maybe it's remained...
Of course I could be wrong. But it would be funny to make an international call to Singapore to book a ticket, only to be redirected to Brisbane, Hobart or Sydney!

... But it would be funny to make an international call to Singapore to book a ticket, only to be redirected to Brisbane, Hobart or Sydney!Even if the call centre is in Australia, the fares offered might be substantially different based on what number was called (some companies are doing this, no idea if QF is). The low SIN origin fares that I'm aware of are offered by some TA's and are technically consolidator fares but issued as regular fares. Sometimes the amount paid and shown as the fare basis differ (which is illegal by IATA rules, but done by major airlines).
