Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Cx Bkk-sin

I noticed that the 713 is a 747 with a First Class Cabin. My ticket is in J, would it be worth paying for an upgrade?

Also what is the CX/OW lounge situation like in BKK now? I am BA Gold.

I noticed that the 713 is a 747 with a First Class Cabin. My ticket is in J, would it be worth paying for an upgrade?...Short flight so regional F service (no caviar but lots of good food). How would you pay? As far as I know CX just collects the fare difference F/J, unless you use Asiamiles but that is problematic and your profile doesn't list AM. I've flown at least a dozen <2 hr legs in CX F and while it is very nice, it really isn't cost-effective. The value of F is for those 14 hour flights, not the 2 hour ones.

I need to check what the price would be for a last minute upgrade at the gate, but the nice grub, extra TPs and miles plus the chnace to try First Class service are tempting me.

CX does not do $$$ upgrade at the gate as they won't have the catering ready for you. U have to do it prior the check in. Depends on what fare you are on as well.

I have taken this flight in first class. Great menu for a short flight. Very comfortable first class 747 seats.... ENJOY...

I've taken it too...nice food, great service and a lovely seat...it usually isn't all that much to upgrade, so give it a try!

If you are paying I would forget it - it's a 2 hour flight, 25 extra inches of pitch and a wider seat doesn't make a difference and the food, while excellent, is not worth the price. You cannot UG at a discount, it is either Asia Miles or the fare difference.

If you have someone to bill it to, however, by all means, go ahead. :p

Well, they did it for me. I did allow a bit extra time for check in at BKK and for 4,000THB they put me in 1A and a very nice afternoon it was too :D

You paid the fare difference. The F sector fare BKK-SIN is 18,170 THB, J is 13,900 THB. Glad you enjoyed it. I hope you got TPs for F.

Not if you're flying thru from HKG to SIN.

I don't think the Thai Airport authorities allow passengers to get off CX713 unless you're actually stopping in BKK. They will ask to see your boarding pass at the door if you attempt to leave.

In any case, CX currently does not have a F lounge for its own use at BKK airport, is my understanding.

Really? I took this flight recently to BKK and they definitely did not check BPs. Other than the fact that it would take ages many people actually lose their BP stubs inflight!
