According to a news, Asiana will upgrade F and C class on 12 aircrafts by late 2008 - 4 747s, 3 777s, and 5 767s. Therefore, all 772s will be with new C class. No mentions on Y class. No information about new F seats yet.
I guess 2 767s out of 7 will be out, and 4 747s out of 8 also will out or converted to freighters.

Asiana will spend $ 60,000,000 for fleet upgrade, according to a local economic daily.^
Also in the news, OZ will fly daily to FRA ,starting July.

Speaking of OZ premium cabins, if flying J on a relatively short flight, is the 74E markedly better than the 767 product?

Well, 74E's J class seat will be a little bit wider than 767. (Not quite sure about this.) But pitch is almost same. 74E has PTV while 767 doesn't, which is not a big problem on short haul. And if the 74E flight runs without F class, such as night flight to HKG, then you may have a chance to seat on F seat. Overall, I want to suggest you to take a flight of which the schedule is better for you.

Thank God for this upgrade news, especially on the 747's in J !! The current seat is truely awfull and in desperate need of replacement.

Hopefully they are going to do the 74E first rather than 744, as there are most of the routes are served with 74E only.

OZ has 6 or 8 74E. Only 2 744 Passenger versions.
I believe the 744 Passenger version only serves JFK.
They just need to update the seats ASAP. F is still comfortable with the padding when sleeping :)

There's hardly much innovation at Asiana, lets be fair! It's one step forward and two steps back!
By the time these 'new' seats come out, they're still going to be at the back of the pack unless they have something truly special to match the likes of SQ.
And from what I've seen of their loads, they'd be just as well to install larger, FULLY FLAT seats! I have only flown Business Class with them, twice on the new 333 and once on a 777. There were there more than 8 people in business on either of the three flights.
For the record, the flights were SGN-ICN and ICN-SIN on the A333 and PEK-ICN on the B777.

Without being too critical....but, you only have flown OZ TWICE and making the suggestion??? Lord have mercey. Didn't someone once said, "A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing?"

I've just seen 747s to be back on ICN-LHR from end of March.
Wonder whether refurb'ed or not?

Speaking of OZ J:
I have a choice between SQ J (not space bed) and new OZ J (333) on an upcoming ICN-SIN flight.
I assume I made the right choice by picking OZ? Better seat and service?

The seat on the 333 is very nice and has AVOD (although not as many choices as SQ). The seat is actually like the spacebed. The service will be very nice.....

Is that true? Asiana's homepage says still 777 will run whole next summer season, the 777 with new J class seat with PTV.

I looked at schedule for later in March, and starting on a Thurs, the 747 reappears. Whether true, I couldn't say!

Does this mean that the 74Combi is fitted with new J class?
I am flying HKG-ICN on award, booked in C class. I have read one thing sayng that J class wont be upgraded till late 2008, one saying new J class over the summer and one saying that I can request a F seat since they sell as 2 class only.
Confirmation?

I wonder if OZ pulling the CMB fares has reduced the load in F even more   ;) :p :D LOL
PS Same for the ex-BKK fares.
