InterContinental Hotels: Priority Club & Inter-Continental Ambassador - Could not get a comparable rate

My company is watching the $$$$$$ and expect me to book with competitive rates. I called the HI EX in Spokane Valley and told them that $99.00 was comparable but the rate went up to $119.00 for Thurs and Fri. I am staying 6 nights so I asked them to match the Quality Inn rate of $98.00 for every night - and they refused, so I guess they are losing my complete stay for $40.

I suppose the HIX would like to make sure you pay for the Rewards Points (I know you'll get points in QI's program too), plus maybe they see themselves as a superior property.
Or, maybe some other reason(s).
Or not.

Or maybe they just refuse to lower their prices because those are the prices they need due to their own calculation.
You are asking 1/6 for those two days as rebate and in their mix calculation this may be exactly what they cannot give you.
Additionally you will usually find that just by a call they will not give you such a rebate for the very basic reason that everybody could come along and ask for it. being strict on this is the onyl way to stay in business.
And 17% for two days is a lot. What is next? Taking a youth hostels price and say "well they only take ..."?
What you could do and they might be doing is asking for a bill stating 99 for every day and just bill the other 40 dollars differently or even paying themselves.
That is something they might perhaps be willing to do.
