Budget Travel - Any advice on cheap flights for ORD-CUN?

I'm headed there with a group from July4th-8th.

So far we found USA3000 to be a little cheaper than the major carriers, and it offers a nostop which the majors don't. Any ideas on other carriers that may have good deals to Cancun?

Would a charter flight be an option? I don't know the first thing about them. There willbe 5-10 of us going from Chicago.

Thanks!

So far we found $375 on USA3000. Any ideas on where we might find a better fare?

I wasn't asking anyone to find flights for me. I was wondering if there were any resources that I may have overlooked. For example, USA3000 did not show up on any of the flight search engines I used... a friend told me about it. I was wondering if there were other airlines that also don't show up in searches that offer good deals to Cancun. I've also heard charter flights can be a good deal, but I don't know the first thing about booking one.

Thanks for the heads up though- at least I'll know why if it does get locked.

... between asking for advice in seeking a way to search and asking for fare advice. For now we will look at it as former and let the thread stand.

Before flying the mentioned airline you may want to do a search, I've read some horror stories about this particular carrier here on FT

I am also asking OP to change the wording of the Original Post to better reflect the referenced post about no fare requests.

Thanks !

Make sure USA 3000 flight is scheduled - not part of their charter service - very different rights of passengers in case of trouble.

Au Contraire, Mon Frere. I did ORD-CUN on USA3000 in Aug.2006. If you like old fashioned coach with movies and food and ontime departure/arrival, you won't be disappointed. BTW although it's an international flight, it departs from the domestic side of ORD.

Have you tried Spirit Airlines (http://www.spiritair.com/welcome.aspx), Apple Vacations (http://www.applevacations.com/index.do?command=showHome), and Funjet (http://www.funjet.com/)?

ORD -CUN fares at peak travel times can be funny. Most Chicago area schools all have the same week off for spring break. For travel in late March it was actually cheaper to buy first class (R) tickets on CO (connecting in IAH) than to fly coach non-stop on AA or UA. (It was only $140 per person more than lowest coach on CO.)

I don't know if the 4th will have the same disparity.

Spirit wasn't comptetive, but I'll check the others. Thanks!

I also heard from a friend that USA was not a good experience for them (ie. cancelled flight). If it were me, I would also consider departures out of day trip drivable cities, too - maybe MKE, MSP, or DTW.

Don't forget STL and Indy.
