Just received a "Welcome to Diamond" pack from CX. It came in quite a large box, with the new style membership card and luggage tags, and 6 month membershpi to Butterfields. The surprise was that the box contained a set of Luxe travel guides (to Sydney, Seoul, Ho Chi Minh, Bali and Dubai.

The luggage tag as a green stripe on the back where it says "Baggage Tag" and from memory it looks more like the Silver baggage tag than the old Diamond one did. It has always been hard to tell Silver and Diamond apart, but now they really look quite similar.

I presume your membership is a renewal instead of newly attained?

I am lookforward to the box of LUXE guides as I was comtemplating whether or not to buy it at the book store the otherday.

I must say I don't really like the new MPO logo. It lost the elegance and looks really cheap and common.

Have they changed the material of the baggage tags or is it still a flimpsy card?

To tell the difference, on the front, DM has a silver wing in the middle while SL has a green wing.

I always think that the Silver card is more suitable as "Diamond" and vice versa. :p

That's very nice. I wonder whether the Luxe guides are just for members in HKG. I received my renewal pack in London in November, and it was very basic - a letter and the card and baggage tags, as I recall. No fancy travel guides in sight!

Has anyone here based outside HKG received the Luxe guides?

It's clear from the OP that s/he is a New Diamond member. Renewal packs are quite different. The new Diamond membership card and luggage tags have a shiny/reflective "Diamond" strip along one edge which makes them pretty hard to confuse with Silver tags/cards in my opinion. (plus the "Wing" is white rather than green").

Does anyone find that for some reason, no matter how you tie the tags to your bags, the backside of the tag always seems to be the side that flips up? I've looked at other people's bag tags in check in queues and I would say this happens about 75% of the time?

Come and think about that, you are correct. I do not othen check in luggage, but that happens to my carry-on a lot. For check-in luggage, I do not often use the MPC tags, as they are too fragile.

sxc,

This is obviously due to Murphy's Law. The solution is quite easy;
Remove the luggage tag from your bag and then try to attach it is such a way that you purposely try to make it show the back! Then it will always fall the opposite way, showing the front, which is what you want!:p
