How does CX/Asia Miles count mileage to determine award levels?

Example...IAD-LHR-CMN not point to point is 3830 miles but by sector it is 4977.

Does CX use 3830 miles or 4977 miles to determine the award level?

Does not stopping over make a difference?

It's not point to point, but by segments flown. In your case, you've to add up the segments.

Unless there is a nonstop from IAD to CMN that you can find on a partner airline on asiamiles, you would have to add all the connecting points the flights go through, ie IAD-LHR-CMN to come up with total miles for your award.
