I usually don't spend much time on the CX board as I am mostly a *alliance flyer.
I am curious if there are cities in South East Asia where CX J-class tickets are more affordable then others? I did do some sample bookings but CX continuesly comes out more expensive then almost any other *carrier.
Just wanted to see if there is something similar to the J-class fares out of BKK or now gone CMB fares etc. on CX.

Try from TPE or KHH in Taiwan, and let us know if that helps/works.
What is the departure city?

Just checked from TPE, you are right, fares are quite a bit lower from there but still around CAD $ 4,000.00.
I was checking TPE-HKG-YVR return.
I am spending a lot of time in SE Asia each year and often book my flights in C/J class originating in BKK or other SE Asian cities.
I would like to try CX because of their better schedules and 2 daily flights between HKG and YVR compared with AC, OZ and SQ, but fares are still much higher then other *carriers.

Also try CX fares from TPE-SFO or LAX and then a seperate ticket to YVR

Discounted CX fares are best obtained through local TAs (or calling CX themselves) as the CX website only displays published fares. It has no capability to show and sell special discounted fares..

For example you can get CMB-YVR for around US$3K (or less) return with stops in BKK, enroute and HKG, BKK or SIN on the return. But only if you contact CX (inCMB) directly and not book via the website. I got CMB-YVR return last year for less than US$2K.

You'd have to go to CMB to pick up ticket, but CX will send representative (for a fee) to meet you at CMB airport when you turnaround. Or you may pick up the ticket at their ticket office.

But of course the cheapest is still the OZ fare for under US$2K return from BKK to YVR... for now.

Hi Guy Betsy,

You got me rather curious - what is the OZ fare for under US$2K return from BKK to YVR.? Where is that to be found? Does one start from Australia? Or from BKK? I take it it is on CX?

Thanks.

"The OZ fare" means that it is a fare offered by Asiana (airline code OZ).

Does anyone know CX offers discounted J fare from CMB to NYC?
Thanks!

YES.

To all CX points in North America.

I just checked:
CMB-YVR return around US$2850 + taxes (D class)
CMB-JFK return around US$3300 + taxes (I class)
No stops in HKG outbound/return. Normally stops only permitted outbound in BKK, and inbound at HKG , BKK/SIN is permitted. 1 year ticket.

Where is it possible to view and buy such OZ fare tickets? I ask because often an airline's own website will not display such special fares.

Thanks.

They come up on ExperFlyer at USD1762++ Book into C. So I guess they are widely accessible to TAs.

I see CMB-SFO is published at about the same pricepoint -- in your experience, calling CX in Sri Lanka can yield a significantly better price, yes?

Not to SFO. I exchanged several emails with CMB CX office, and the price recently went up (AGAIN :( ) and CMB-SFO is about $2800.
