Greetings!

We're attending the Taiwan Bike Show in March and are trying to locate hotels near the 101 building. The Grand Hyatt (next door) is pricing out at $200+ per night and our budget is closer to $100.

It's been difficult trying to determine what else is nearby!

Any info on hotels with shuttle service, or within 2-3 miles would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Pausing only to note that Taipei is in Taiwan, not China (should be under "other Asia" here), I can give you a couple of comments. I assume your exhibition is at the World Trade Center, around the corner from 101? There are not a lot of hotels right in the area, and I don’t know about shuttle services, but public transit is easy to negotiate.

Another FTer once recommended the Agora Garden, near 101, though I suspect it’s a bit expensive (anyway, see http://www.agoragdn.com.tw/).

A well known and often recommended cheaper hotel is the KDM Hotel. I haven’t stayed there but I’ve haven’t heard anything bad about it--rooms about US$60. It is right by the ChungHsiao ShinSheng subway stop, just a few stations from the City Hall stop that would get you to the WTC (which is about 5-10 minutes walk from the station). There are other hotels right around Chung-hsiao (Zhongxiao) East Road as well--so convenient for the subway to the WTC.

You can try Comos Hotel at Taipei Main Station, about NT$2,500 (US$80). It is ontop Main MRT station, about 10-15 min to City Hall Station, or there public bus (Hsin-ni line) that does direct to 101/WTC .

For a bit over (or maybe under if they have promotions) try Ceasar Park (was Hilton), Howard Hotel (Fushing Road area), or LaiLaiSheraton (very nice updated rooms)

KDM Hotel

I can recommend it. It comes with a complimentary breakfast. It is nothing fancy but I can recommend it as a resonable stay.

The weblink is: http://www.highness.com.tw/english/kdm/about_map.php

It is as previous poster mentioned BESIDE the subway entrance so everything is very convienent. We paid about $ 65 USD a few months ago.

I stay at the Agora Garden every year when I attend a trade show in Taiwan - I've not had any problem at all with it over the last five or six visits. The staff accommodates foreigners well, and it's not at all difficult to walk to 101.

However, in hot weather (which is much of the time) it can be quite a sweat-inducing walk, and it's almost too short to take a taxi. If you go to the mall (one long block away from the hotel entrance), you can walk in the cooler air just about all the way to the 101.

We've ended up getting a great rate at the Westin. (I just got the Gold promo upgrade.) But we'll try to check out the suggestions while there for future reference. Many thanks! MG
